The kitchen is the heart of your home so don’t allow it to be buried in clutter. I made a video to share some tips on how I keep my kitchen organized. A must watch for every mom and homemaker!
A magazine file is one of my favorite organizing tools. You can use it for more than just printed materials or office folders. Here are some uses I found for it.
A magazine file makes a good can food keeper or dispenser just like what I did here!
It is also a great place to keep kitchen items like foil, wax paper, plastic wraps and the like.
If you attach this to the back of one of your kitchen cabinets, just imagine how much drawer space you can save!
I found someone who did the same thing but used it for her blow dryer instead. Such a space saver!
Christmas is just around the corner. A magazine file makes a great container for a gift basket. Here’s a sample of what I prepared.
My favorite use for a magazine file is for my shoes. I was able to fit 8 pairs of shoes in this one and was able to save a ton of space inside my shoe closet because of it.
You can use it for flip flops, too!
Let me know if you find other ways to re-purpose a magazine file. Until next time, stay OCfied!
Look what I found at National Book Store! Chalk label stickers! I guess some of you will find my excitement weird but you see, I used to order these abroad online because I couldn’t find any locally so I’m just so happy that they are now available here.
If you’ve seen my video on my 5 basic organizing tips, then you’d know that labeling is an organizing fundamental. If you haven’t seen the video, well you can watch it here! 🙂
What I love about these stickers is that they are reusable and come in so many cute shapes!
Use liquid chalk on your labels since it will make your labels last longer than powdered chalk.
Chalk labels are perfect for kitchen bottles and jars. When you need to reuse the container for something else, you just need to wipe the chalk label with a damp cloth and you’re good to go again.
When it comes to cabinet storage, there are only 2 things you need to remember to help you keep all your stuff neat and easy to find.
1. The first tip to take to heart is to organize according to category then keep them in separate boxes or bins. This way, everything is contained in orderly compartments. I myself use a combination of open bins for irregularly shaped items and see-thru plastic boxes for all the others. The nice thing about using see-thru plastic boxes is that you can easily check what is inside each box by just looking at it – no need to rummage through each container every time you are looking for something. I got my faux leather boxes from Make Room, my fabric boxes from S&R and all my plastic ones from National Book Store – you can find really affordable ones in all shapes and sizes there.
2. The second tip to make a habit of is to label everything. This way, you know where everything is in one glance, and you know where to throw back anything you’ve used in a second.
For labeling, I use a Dymo Label Maker I also got from National Book Store.
You only need to do this once and your cabinets will stay OCfied virtually forever! So make an effort because, as I love to say to all my friends, being organized means less time looking for things and more time with your family!
